MIXED NUTS by SIMON J. DONAGHUE & NANCY MANERA  (a comedy)

What happens when a shy, aspiring writer from the Midwest comes to the Big Apple in search of fame and fortune? For Michael Caldwell, life becomes a series of hilarious encounters with the unpredictable residents of his dilapidated apartment house. Among them are Marshall Ryan, a commercial actor who specializes in portraying inanimate objects; Tanya Romanov, a Russian ballerina on the lam from the KGB; and Philomena Della Vecchia, a wisecracking actress. Phil may be the woman of Michael's dreams if he can just keep her quiet long enough to tell her. To retain his own sanity, Michael retreats to his fantasies, only to find that the world of his imagination is even more nerve-wracking than the reality surrounding him!

Auditions: THURS, 29 AUG from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM (Lab Theatre, M310)

Prepare: MIXED NUTS SIDES - Prepare up to two sides. Memorization isn't required, but strong familiarity with the text is crucial for making creative choices. You might be asked to read one or both sides during the audition. Practice with a partner who's also auditioning, but be ready to read with someone else. Stay flexible and open-minded! Finally, please slate your audition by following the guidelines under "DUET" in this document.

• LT Theatre Co. Production Handbook: If you have already filled out and returned a Production Handbook Contractor LT ISD Fine Art Code of Conduct, you don't need to complete and submit a new one.

Audition & Casting Note: The cast size for Mixed Nuts is limited, so it's essential to bring strong work and bold choices to your audition. Mixed Nutsis a comedy set in the 70s, and character and dramaturgy work will be crucial so you can play and land your jokes. By auditioning, you are considered open to playing any role in the show.   This production features both traditional and repertory-style casting, particularly for the role of Philomena Della Vecchia, an aspiring actress from New York. Refer to the Production Handbook (above) for details on repertory-style casting. Some roles will have understudies, so if you can't commit to being present at every rehearsal, please reconsider accepting an understudy role. Even if you’re not on stage working during a rehearsal, you're still responsible for tracking all blocking, adjustments, character work, and coordinating with the lead to effectively learn the role. Understudies will perform on the 2nd night of the public showing.

Mixed Nuts Rehearsal Schedule Student Schedule of Availability: All students auditioning are charged with downloading, printing, and returning this form before the audition day. 

Barring any holds, the Cast List will be posted outside the Lab Theatre—M310 door and awaiting your confirmation signature by 4:10 PM on Friday, August 30th. You must confirm your role by signing next to your name on the list. Failure to provide a confirmation signature will indicate that you are not interested in accepting the role assigned, and it will be offered to the runner-up actor who completed a successful audition.
